Josh Kerr is relishing the prospect of a new challenge in Super League after agreeing to join Hull FC on a two-year deal ahead of the 2027 campaign.
Kerr becomes the club’s 10th new signing under Steve McNamara, joining Daly Cherry-Evans, Junior Pauga, Jordan Swann and Josh Coric in making the move from Australia to the MKM Stadium.
The 30-year-old prop has made close to 150 NRL appearances since making his debut for St George Illawarra Dragons in 2017.
“I’m really excited to be joining Hull FC. It’s a proud club with a great history, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of it,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the boys, getting stuck into training and meeting the Hull fans. For me and my family, it’s also a chance to experience a different culture and make some great memories together. We can’t wait to get over there and get started.”
Kerr adds further depth to Hull’s pack for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, while the club also recently confirmed James Bell’s departure as he looks to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere in Super League.
Hull FC began their pre-season preparations on Monday under new head coach McNamara, who is thrilled to have secured Kerr’s services from the NRL.
“We’re delighted to welcome Josh to Hull FC. He brings size, physicality and NRL experience to our pack, and we believe he will add real value to us,” said McNamara.
“We’re looking forward to getting him into training, building relationships with his teammates and helping him produce his best rugby.
“Josh will have an important part to play in maintaining and continually improving the standards set by the existing group during the first week of pre-season.”
However, the Black and Whites are again over the quota threshold of 10 overseas players, with Cherry-Evans, Swann, Coric, Pauga, Isaac Liu, John Asiata, Cade Cust, Herman Ese’ese, Sam Lisone and Aidan Sezer all under contract.
It means at least one more player needs to be moved on during pre-season.
Ethan O’Neill does not count on the quota due to playing part of his junior rugby league journey in England.
