James Bell is set for a fresh Super League move after Hull FC confirmed the departure of the overseas forward.
Bell, 32, spent just one season at the MKM Stadium, having initially signed a three-year deal from St Helens.
He made 18 appearances during the 2026 season, scoring his only try for the club against the Saints in Round 22.
Hull FC have confirmed that Bell has been released from the remainder of his contract to take up an opportunity with another Super League club.
The Black and Whites said in a statement: “The club would like to thank James for his efforts, and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”
Love Rugby League previously reported that Bradford Bulls had identified Bell as a target for the 2027 season under head coach Kurt Haggerty, with the club leading the race to secure the New Zealand-born forward’s signature.
Bell would become Bradford’s 10th permanent signing for 2027, following Hull FC team-mate Ligi Sao in making the move to Odsal.
The Bulls have also recruited John Bateman, Sam Eseh, James Bentley, Cam Scott, Nathan Connell and Grand Final winner Lachlan Walmsley, alongside the permanent additions of Jack Ormondroyd and Leon Ruan.
Bell becomes Hull’s 11th departure following the conclusion of the 2026 Super League season, with the club beginning pre-season under new head coach Steve McNamara last Monday.
His departure also leaves Hull with 10 overseas players, bringing them in line with Super League’s quota regulations. Daly Cherry-Evans, Isaac Liu, Jordan Swann, Josh Coric and Junior Pauga are all signed up for 2027.
However, Hull have also been linked with a move for Josh Kerr, meaning another overseas spot would need to be made available should that move materialise.
