Hull FC and Hull KR men among 14 Super League players charged after Magic Weekend

Warrington Wolves hooker Sam Powell has been handed a lengthy ban by the Match Review Panel.

Powell was sin-binned for a hip drop tackle on Tesi Niu during Saturday’s Magic Weekend clash between Warrington and Leigh Leopards at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Niu had to leave the stadium on crutches and given the incident caused injury to the Leigh man, the disciplinary panel have not been kind.

Powell has been handed a Grade E charge and a three-match ban for his actions, ensuring he will miss a key period for the Wolves with Wigan Warriors up next before Sam Burgess’ side take on Hull KR and Leigh again.

Powell is the only man suspended by the MRP, but 14 players have been charged with half of that tally is made up of either Wigan Warriors or St Helens players after a bad blooded encounter on Sunday.

David Klemmer, George Delaney and Daniel Suluka-Fifita have been charged on the Saints side while Jack Farrimond, Junior Nsemba, Oliver Partington and Jake Wardle have been punished for Wigan.
