Can it really be a whole year since Hull Fair was last in the city? This afternoon the Lord of Mayor of Hull Cllr Cheryl Payne declared the 2025 fair officially open.
Hull Live photographer Donna Clifford was there for the traditional launch, which took place on the Waltzer ride owned by Mr S A Robinson and family and included the ceremonial sounding of the traditional fair bell. Also in attendance was Hull Fair chaplain, the Rev Alan Bagshaw, and Mathew Dowse, of the Yorkshire section of the Showmen’s Guild.
A parade led by the City of Hull pipe band, with the Lord Mayor travelling in a 1908 Stanley Model M steam car, preceded the ceremony. Donna was there to capture all the moments and will be continuing to cover all the fair action and faces for the duration of this 731st annual Hull Fair.
