Fan favourite Regan Slater is being honoured by the shopping centre

St Stephen’s in Hull has unveiled a timely tribute to a Hull City star. The shopping centre has renamed one of its walkways “Slater Street”, in honour of Tigers midfielder Regan Slater, as the city gears up for the team’s return to the Premier League this weekend.
The signage has been installed ahead of Hull City’s opening fixture against Manchester United at home tomorrow (Saturday, August 22) as a good luck gesture to the club. Slater, who will be part of the squad heading into the new Premier League season, was nominated by fans after St Stephen’s invited supporters to put forward their favourite Hull City player to have the walkway temporarily renamed in their honour, following the Championship play-off win in May.
Slater has become a popular figure among supporters and has received a number of individual accolades for his performances, making the current City star a fitting choice as the club prepares for its first Premier League campaign in nine years. Jim Harris, centre manager at St Stephen’s, said: “It’s been brilliant to see local fans get behind the competition, and Slater Street is a deserving winner.
“Regan is part of the team that has given the city so much to celebrate, so it’s great to recognise him as the Tigers prepare for their return to the Premier League. We wanted to give local fans a chance to be part of the celebrations and mark what is a huge moment for Hull.
“The first game back, at home against Manchester United, will be a brilliant occasion for the city and we’ll be cheering the Tigers on alongside supporters across Hull.”
