Sue was a notable absentee on Thursday night

Sauaso Sue missed Thursday night’s game through precaution, Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has confirmed.

The Robins saw off Castleford Tigers with ease as they cruised to a 50-6 win at Craven Park and moved up to third in the Super League table, albeit with most teams still to play in round 10.

However, they did it all without Sue, who was named in the 21-man squad but sat out of the contest on the night.

The prop could have played in the game, Peters has confirmed, but due to a minor issue he has been carrying, the decision was made to leave him out in order to try and get him fit and firing for next week’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Warrington Wolves.

“He had a few bumps and bruises but he could have played towards the back end,” Peters said. “We just wanted to be smart with it.

“He could have played but then there’s the risk of something happening of the back of the issue that he had but he’ll be ready for next week.”

Sue was one of four men to drop out for KR on the night with Noah Booth being replaced by the fit again Joe Burgess on the wing, while Jordan Dezaria and Bill Leyland were not involved. Oliver Gildart also came back into the side after overcoming a minor ankle complaint.

Peters took the opportunity to spell Jez Litten too, with Karl Lawton playing the first 25 minutes or so at hooker before the England international stepped into the fray. Dean Hadley and Elliot Minchella were also given time on the sidelines as the game wore on.

“Dean had a bit of tightness at half-time,” Peters admitted. “He’ll be OK but we just wanted to rest him and not take too many risks.

“Elliot played 60 straight and that’s a decent stint. Jez was one there that we could spell a little bit, taking him out of the start of the game and took him off as well at the end as well. I thought Karl did an outstanding job starting the game.”
