The Tigers are keen to offload a number of fringe players today
Sheffield United have reportedly turned the opportunity to sign Hull City’s Kieran Dowell today.
The Blades are looking for an attacking midfielder in the closing stages of the transfer window as they prepare to lose Callum O’Hare to Wrexham on deadline day.
According to the Sheffield Star, though, the South Yorkshire club won’t be signing Dowell. The club have been offered the City man, who had a loan spell at Bramall Lane from Everton back in 2019, but as it stands it seems he doesn’t fit the bill.
City are looking for a new club for Dowell before tonight’s 11pm deadline with the 29-year-old on the peripheries of Sergej Jakirovic’s squad.
And, with the Tigers needing to submit a 25-man squad to the Premier League later this week, Dowell risks being one of those de-registered if he cannot find a new club today.

The midfielder only joined City in January from Rangers, but he has struggled to make his mark in black and amber with one goal coming in 13 Championship appearances last season.
He bagged for City last week in their Carabao Cup win over Stoke City, but that wasn’t enough to work his way up Jakirovic’s pecking order and he is one of the players the club are trying to move on today, either permanently or on loan.
Liam Millar and Cody Drameh are both on the verge of leaving with respective moves to Birmingham City and Genoa lined up.
Matty Jacob, Abdus Omur, David Akintola and Oscar Zambrano are also on that list.
