Peters has taken the opportunity to pile praise on Hull KR’s ‘most consistent player of the year’

Willie Peters has labelled Tom Davies Hull KR’s most consistent player of the year as he continues to shine in red and white.
Davies scored two in Rovers’ win over Castleford Tigers last week with the winger taking his tally to 14 across the season.
He is behind Joe Burgess and Mikey Lewis at Craven Park in this season’s try scoring charts, but Davies’ game is about so much more than just scoring with the 29-year-old making more carries than anyone else in Super League so far this season with 443.
He has also made 3461 metres over the course of the season and that’s a tally only Catalans Dragons’ Charlie Staines has been able to better across the competition.
Indeed, the stats tell a story of a winger at the very top of his game and Peters believes Davies should be involved in Brian McDermott’s England squad this autumn. His sole cap for England came in 2021 against France and Peters believes it’s about time he was given the opportunity to add to that.
“Tom’s been our most consistent player all year,” Peters said. “You know what you’re going to get with Tom and I believe he should be pushing in that England squad.
“That’s just my thoughts, I’m biased being his coach, but if you look at him every week, he’s certainly got a game that would stand up in those World Cup games.
“You need strong carries from backfield, you need to get on the front foot and then you’ve got the class off the back of that to be able to do the rest and he certainly brings that every week.
“He’s been safe for us, defensively he’s been sound and I’ve liked what he’s done. I’m looking forward to him having a big end of the season and helping us to where we want to get to. Hopefully individual he can push himself to be around that squad.
“That’s just my thoughts. He’s been very consistent the last couple of years since he’s been at our club and he’s been our most consistent player all year, that’s for sure.”
