There was an unfamiliar name in the Hull FC reserves line up.
Hull FC’s reserves side ran out 58-22 winners at Bradford Bulls on Sunday afternoon, with Goole Vikings forward Harry Medlicott featuring for the Black and Whites.
Hull have an agreement with the Championship club that will see some of the Vikings’ players playing for the reserves when not required at first-team level. That was the case with Medlicott, who remains part of Scott Taylor’s Goole squad and who scored a try in the 58-22 victory.
The prop forward has taken a unique route to the professional game, spotted by Jamie Jones-Buchanan while playing for the University of Leeds rugby league team and going onto play for Leeds Rhinos reserves. He then moved to Australia and played for South Logan Magpies in the Queensland Cup before returning to England with the Vikings.
A former Skirlaugh Bulls junior, Medlicott, 25, has also played for England Students, linking up with the Black and Whites off the interchange and scoring a try as Danny Houghton’s side ran out big winners in West Yorkshire.
Following up last week’s victory over St Helens, Hull scored 10 tries in total, with Callum Kemp backing up Friday’s cameo first-team appearance at Castleford Tigers with a hat-trick of tries.
Elsewhere, Ryan Westerman, Jordon Baker, Lloyd Kemp, Caleb Paleaaesina, Rio Kassim, and Elliot Middlemas all crossed over, with Westerman adding six goals and C. Kemp landing three.
Kassim was backing up Wednesday’s academy win at Huddersfield, where he scored three tries in a 50-4 victory. Paleaasina also featured having played for the under-18s earlier in the week.
Meanwhile, Roman Dawson, who came off in the second half against the Saints as he continues his comeback from back-to-back ACL injuries, wasn’t risked.
