He was sin binned at the time.
Castleford Tigers forward George Lawler has been handed a two-match suspension by the RFL’s Match Review Panel following his high tackle on Hull FC prop Ligi Sao on Friday night.
Lawler was sin binned by referee Tara Jones for the tackle at the time, catching Sao high around the head, with the Hull player subsequently failing his HIA and out for the rest of the game, not to mention Sunday’s Super League round ten match against Toulouse Olympique.
Handed a Grade D head contact charge, Lawler will now sit out Castleford’s next two games. He has been handed 15 penalty points and had also been fined. He will miss the Tigers’ games against Hull KR, his former club, on Thursday night, and York Knights next month.
Lawler is one of five charges handed out. Elsewhere, three players have been handed fines following Grade B charges. They are Toulouse full-back Olly Ashall-Bott (head contact), York Knights forward Sam Cook (dangerous contact), and Wakefield Trinity prop Caius Faatili (dangerous contact). All three players are free to play this week.
There is also one Grade A charge for Huddersfield Giants forward Chris Patolo (late contact on passer). He has avoided a fine and is also free to play this week.
