Asiata was Hull’s best in defeat.
Hull FC suffered their third straight Super League defeat with a 14-10 loss at Wakefield Trinity on Thursday night. Here are the ratings.
Davy Litten – Everyone will talk about the error before half time, a crucial mistake from a high ball that gifted Wakefield six points but Litten’s overall performance was more than fair. He ran for nearly 200 metres again and produced a try saving tackle in the second half. That shouldn’t be lost – but ultimately it’s the big moments that John Cartwright has conceded has left them with some thinking to do. 5
Tom Briscoe – Saw a lot of the ball in the backfield and worked hard. 5
Zak Hardaker – Got through a lot of work in the back field and ran tough. 6
Arthur Romano – Two really good pieces of centre play to put Martin over for his two tries. He also poked his nose through in a rare try scoring opportunity in the second half but there was criminally no support. One of Hull’s best tonight and in the season so far. 7
Lewis Martin – Two finishes outside for his tries but his work in the backfield was perhaps more impressive. Made one break and ran strong throughout. 7
Jake Arthur – He’s not had it easy with two hamstring strains and he will need time but he needs to show more than that. He’ll know it too. 4
Aidan Sezer – The half backs link with Asiata for their two tries was on point and Hull need to see more of it if they’re going to improve this season. 5
Yusuf Aydin – Ran hard and made some fair ground, particularly in his second half stint. 6
Amir Bourouh – Left the field for a HIA in the second half. He passed to come back on. Big defensive workload and one or two runs. Hopefully Hull will see more of that as their attack improves. 5
Harvie Hill – The prop was sporting a nasty cut from last week. Didn’t see much of the ball but busy in defence. 5
Brad Fash – Big in defence and has the heart of a lion but limited in his carries. 5
Connor Bailey – Massive defensive workload but again found carries tough in a tight and tense battle. 5
John Asiata – His first 30 minutes was up there with the best stint of any Hull player this season. Adds so much shake to the side and crucial to how they move forward. He just has to stay fit. Returned late on for a second stint. 7
Cade Cust – Impact was limited with a HIA. John Cartwright confirmed he passed it post-match. 5
James Bell – A first run out and saw plenty of the ball. He’ll add a new dimension to Hull’s middle as the season goes on. 5
Sam Lisone – Ran hard but impact limited by a strong Wakefield second half performance. 5
Ligi Sao – Ran hard and tried to have an impact. Was invoked in an incident with Corey Hall that was placed on report. 5
