Willie Peters has made it clear what he expects this week.

Hull KR boss Willie Peters has demanded a swift response from his side after their Las Vegas nightmare, with Huddersfield Giants awaiting back on home soil.

The Robins were dominated 58-6 by Leeds Rhinos at Allegiant Stadium, part of the NRL’s glitzy Sin City showcase. The Super League contest in the United States came just nine days after Hull KR’s emotional World Club Challenge triumph over Brisbane Broncos, claiming their fourth title in 12 months.

Vegas concluded a chaotic start to the season for the defending Super League champions: opening their campaign to newcomers York, defeating Brisbane to be crowned world club champions before jetting off for the overseas rugby league extravaganza.

But Peters refused to let the schedule become an excuse post-match, and has now demanded his team to respond at Accu Stadium on Sunday.

“The focus is on what we do going forward,” the Hull KR head coach said. “We’ve looked at the game, we’ve spoken about it, and now it’s about resetting and moving forward. We need to do that.

“Training since returning has been positive. There’s been good energy around the group.

“We spoke as a group around actions now, and we want to make sure that we action a response and not talk about it. That’s the most important thing now.”

All 17 players who featured in Vegas came through unscathed, but a performance like that leaves any head coach pondering changes.

But Peters added: “You can look at it two ways – you make changes, or you give players a chance to redeem themselves.

“We’re looking at it as an opportunity to get ourselves back on track with a high-quality performance. It’s important we deliver a performance for our fans, and especially those that travelled to Vegas and will be at Huddersfield on the weekend.”

Huddersfield meanwhile have been hit by two further injuries, now into double figures of players sidelined just four weeks into the season. Sam Halsall is set to miss more than a month due a hamstring issue, while starting hooker Zac Woolford will sit out after a series of head knocks.
