The latest news from around the MKM Stadium
Sergej Jakirovic will hold talks with Hull City sporting director Jared Dublin about the immediate future of David Akintola.
The Nigerian winger had been left out of City’s 25-man squad following the closure of the winter transfer window, with it expected that he would find a move elsewhere.
Potential moves to Slovenia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia came to nothing earlier this month, so the 30-year-old has remained in East Yorkshire and has continued to train at Cottingham despite being unable to play in the Championship.

That situation could now be about to change, after City’s worst fears were confirmed surrounding Yu Hirakawa.
The Japan international damaged his ankle in the defeat to QPR last weekend, and he will now need surgery, which will see him sidelined for around four months, which puts his involvement in this summer’s World Cup in serious jeopardy.
Yu is expected to head back to Bristol City and will undergo surgery on his ankle next week, and his absence opens up the door for Akintola to come back in from the cold.
City have left two spaces in their 25-man squad, with those two spots set aside for Mo Belloumi and Eliot Matazo once they return from injury. Should they agree to de-register Hirakawa, Akintola will likely be brought back into the fold and play a part in the remaining weeks of the season with the Tigers pushing for promotion.
