The experienced playmaker is under contract at the MKM Stadium until the summer of 2027

Kasey Palmer admits his career at Hull City hasn’t gone as well as he would have hoped, after making a loan move to Luton Town in a bid to get his career back on track.

Palmer made his debut for the Hatters at struggling Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and played 77 minutes at Home Park in Town’s disappointing 1-0 defeat in Devon.

The Jamaican international, who still holds a hope of his country qualifying for the World Cup this summer, has been restricted to just nine Championship appearances this season, with only three of those coming from the start.

He also endured the wrath of boss Sergej Jakirovic earlier in the campaign when the Croatian said Palmer wasn’t in the right frame of mind to take his place in the squad that beat Sheffield United, before he returned from international duty with a knee injury which kept him sidelined until Christmas.

Now 29, Palmer is keen to make an impact under rookie boss Jack Wilshere in the remaining weeks of the season, as the Hatters look to claw their way back into the Championship.

“It’s a huge thing. It (his spell at Hull City) hasn’t gone to plan, it’s been difficult not playing and being so far from home hasn’t been ideal,” Palmer said after making his move to Bedfordshire.

“Now I’ve got the opportunity to come back home, live at home, be around the family, be on the school run and hopefully start enjoying my football every week. Living so far away, not seeing the kids and family has been difficult, so to get back home, my kids are here now, my missus, so I’m just buzzing to be here and I can’t wait to be back at home and playing football for Luton.

“There’s been a lot of conversations over the last week and I’m buzzing to get back, playing with them, enjoying my football and hopefully we can get three points on Saturday. I’ve played at Kenilworth Road a few times, it’s always quite a fiesty atmosphere as an away player, so hopefully I’ll be on the right side of it this time and it’s an enjoyable occasion. I actually can’t wait to just be playing football again just knowing I can express myself and feel free and I can’t wait for Saturday to come.”
