The playmaker wasn’t risked on Saturday amid concerns over an ongoing issue
Hull City will assess both Matt Crooks and Ryan Giles in the next 48 hours as they look to determine whether the two players will be fit enough to be involved at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Crooks was named on the subs bench on Saturday as City battled hard to a 2-1 win over Swansea City, which moved the Tigers back up to fourth in the Championship, just five points off the top two with a game-in-hand, capping off a stunning week.
The influential midfielder didn’t come off the bench in the second period, with boss Sergej Jakirovic concerned about a hamstring issue the 30-year-old has been playing through in recent games and, therefore, keeping him sidelined as a precaution.
City‘s medical staff will assess Crooks with the Tigers boss hoping for good news, though he is concerned, given he was already missing nine players against the Swans.
“He has a problem with his hamstring, so after a medical check, we will see. I didn’t want to take a risk with him,” the Croatian told Hull Live. “Already we have a lot of (injury) problems. Yes (concerned). Crooks is very important for this team.
“We miss him in all the games, and you know, with his body constitution, with everything, but okay, we will see.”

Jakirovic also hopes Giles will be fit enough to return to training next week as he aims to make his return from the hamstring injury he sustained in the win at Middlesbrough in late December.
The Tigers expect Oli McBurnie will be okat after he had ice on the back of his leg after being withdrawn in the second period on Saturday, though that was just a precaution. “I took Oli McBurnie off as a precaution and Joffy (Joe Gelhardt) too,” he added.
Meanwhile, striker Enis Destan is likely to be out for at least the next month with a flare-up of the knee injury he arrived at the club with back in the summer.
Destan was in the stands at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, but it’s understood that he will return to Istanbul for treatment on the injury that has kept him side-lined since the defeat to Stoke City on New Year’s Day.
