The Black and Whites will face Championship opposition in the Challenge Cup.

Hull FC will play Salford RLFC in the Challenge Cup third round. The phoenix club of the now defunct Red Devils defeated London based community club Hammersmith Hills Hoists 42-10 in Chiswick this Saturday evening, setting up a home tie with the Black and Whites.

The fixture – to be played at Salford Community Stadium – will take place on the weekend of February 7/8. Full fixture details will be confirmed in due course.

Meanwhile, Salford RLFC will pose a couple of familiar faces for Hull, with Brad Dwyer now representing the club after leaving Leigh Leopards at the end of last season. Owen Haldenby, a former FC academy and reserves prop, also made his Salford debut in London.

After Saturday’s round two results, some other third round ties are now confirmed, including Barrow Raiders vs York Knights, Sheffield Eagles vs Warrington Wolves, Hunslet vs Huddersfield Giants, and Swinton Lions vs Wakefield Trinity.

Hull KR already knew their round three opponent after Lock Lane received a second found bye following the collapse of Featherstone Rovers. The Castleford based community club have opted to reverse the fixture, with the game now taking place at Craven Park.
