‘First-of-its-kind’ attraction for Hull will have kids stretching, mixing and squishing to their heart’s content
New to Hull and East Yorkshire families this May is the chance to dive headfirst into a world of glowing goo, wild experiments and theatrical chaos. Planet Gloop is officially launching its brand-new immersive slime-making experience inside Little Astronauts, at the Prospect Shopping Centre.
Designed for children aged three-plus, the experience transforms ordinary messy play into a full interactive adventure where children step inside the mysterious laboratory of the wonderfully eccentric Professor Gloop, a slightly bonkers scientist with a passion for slime, laughter and spectacularly messy fun. The experience, believed to be the first of its kind in Hull, combines live entertainment, sensory play, creativity and hands-on science-inspired fun in a way that appeals just as much to parents and grandparents as it does to children.
Inside Professor Gloop’s Lab, children are guided through an energetic theatrical experience led by Professor Gloop and his quirky assistant, where they mix, stretch, squish and customise their very own slime creations to take home. From glow-in-the-dark slime and fluorescent colours to scented slime, crunchy textures and bizarre combinations, every session is designed to spark imagination and encourage creativity through play. All slime products are fully non-toxic and safe for children to enjoy at home.
The launch adds another exciting attraction to Little Astronauts, Hull’s rapidly growing space-themed family entertainment venue located inside the Prospect Centre. The creators behind Planet Gloop say the idea was inspired by a desire to bring something genuinely different to families in Hull. Ben, one of the directors for Planet Gloop, said: “Kids absolutely love slime, but we wanted to create something far bigger than just making slime at a table.
“This is a full theatrical experience where children become part of the story. They enter Professor Gloop’s laboratory, interact with the characters, experiment with weird and wonderful ingredients and leave with something they created themselves.

“It’s chaotic, funny, immersive and designed to create unforgettable memories.” The experience taps into the growing popularity of sensory and messy play, which many parents say helps children build confidence, creativity and social interaction skills in a relaxed and playful environment.
For grandparents searching for something unique to do with grandchildren during weekends and school holidays, Planet Gloop offers an experience that is as entertaining to watch as it is to take part in. Professor Gloop himself is described as energetic, unpredictable and hilariously over-the-top – he is part-scientist, part-entertainer and fully committed to creating maximum slime-filled chaos.
Planet Gloop will officially open during the late May bank holiday. Planet Gloop sessions are expected to become popular during weekends, birthdays and school holidays, with families encouraged to book in advance.
