The winter window closes on Monday night at 7pm
The EFL have introduced deal sheets for the first time, with clubs including Hull City potentially being granted extra time to complete deals on deadline day.
Deal sheets have been a regular in the Premier League, giving clubs extra time beyond the deadline to get their final bits of business wrapped up, and the EFL have followed suit.
They only come into effect for those clubs bringing players into the EFL or trading between each other. Clubs must submit the deal sheets between 5pm and 6:59pm on Monday night.
Should City be trading with a Premier League club, then a top-flight deal sheet would need to be used. That could potentially happen in the case of John Egan, who is attracting interest from clubs including West Ham.
Once they’ve been submitted, clubs will be granted a two-hour extension to complete the relevant paperwork. With the window shutting at 7pm, it would give clubs until 9pm to get their business finished.
The main bulk of the transfer agreement must be struck in advance, with the grace period effectively allowing for a little extra time to complete the finer points, and has to be submitted via the Football Administration System, before sending all completed paperwork to FIFA’s Transfer Matching system, the FA and EFL as required.
Deal sheets aren’t legally binding, but to become valid, they must be signed by the buying and selling clubs, plus the player who is moving between the two, and state that all negotiations have been completed.
