Hull FC will run out against NRL Premiers Brisbane Broncos in a training session next month.
The Black and Whites will go up alongside the Broncos in preparation for their World Club Challenge match against cross-city rivals Hull KR. They will feature in a session against the NRL club, running their shapes in a 13 on 13 exercise.
However, the session will for Hull players who don’t feature in the Super League opener against Bradford Bulls on Saturday 14 February, with their round two game coming at Wigan Warriors the following Saturday, but nonetheless will be an exciting opportunity for members of the squad.
“We’re just waiting on some correspondence back,” Cartwright, speaking to Hull Live, said. “They’ll be here on the Sunday before their game against Hull KR and they’re doing some sort of session on the Monday.
“We’re hoping to run a session with them and provide some players to go against them and get a 13 on 13 session on.
“It will be a good opportunity for some of our players. We’ve got a game against Wigan on the Saturday coming off the previous Saturday against Bradford.
“Players who play against Bradford won’t be able to be involved but it will definitely be an experience for the boys we can offer it to.“
Of course, Brisbane is Cartwright’s old NRL club, with the Aussie an assistant at the Broncos before joining the Black and Whites ahead of the 2025 season.
“I’m good mates with a lot of people there,” Cartwright added. “They’re a very professional club and they’ll give themselves every chance in the game. They’ll be throwing everything at it.”
