Everything you need to know as registration opens for Bridlington Beach 5K and Fun Run

Fancy Dress is optional for both races and there will be a trophy up for grabs for the best dressed!

Bridlington Beach 5K and Fun Run will return on Saturday, July 5. Here’s what you need to know:

1. The run will take place on Bridlington South Beach and follow a similar route to previous years along the beach and coastline. East Riding of Yorkshire Council said that this year, due to more favourable tide-times, the run will take place on firmer sand.
2. Spectators will be able to watch from the beach or from the promenade area and there are trophies up for grabs for the first place male and female in both races. The event can accept runners entering on the day, however, there are a limited amount of race numbers available.
3. The 1km Fun Run will start at 10am on the Bridlington South Beach. The 5km race will start at 10.30am on the Bridlington South Beach. Fancy Dress is optional for both races and there will be a trophy up for grabs for the ‘best dressed.’
4. Registration is open from now until, Wednesday, July 1. The event is arranged by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Coastal Services team and the Bridlington Road Runners.

Councillor Nick Coultish, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said: “We are thrilled to welcome back the Bridlington Beach 5km and Fun Run after a successful first four years. With the New Year inspiring many to begin their Couch to 5K journey, we’re calling on all new runners and resolution‑makers to come and give it a go. Whether you’re an active runner or just looking to spectate along our beautiful coastline, we encourage everyone to participate and come together in this celebration of fitness and fun. The event promotes a healthy lifestyle and is suitable for all ages and abilities.’’
