The Black and Whites won’t have many involved at the upcoming World Cup

Hull FC don’t have any representation in this year’s England squad but they do have a number of players currently away on international duty.

Alrix Da Costa hasn’t joined up with the Black and Whites yet but he’s in France’s World Cup squad and he’s joined by two departing Hull players in Amir Bourouh and Arthur Romano, who will be heading to Catalans Dragons after the World Cup.

FC have also seen a couple of academy players called up to the Wales squad this month.

With that in mind, here’s a look at those FC players set to be international action.

Alrix Da Costa

Da Costa will be joining Hull from Catalans after the World Cup and he’ll be keen to add to the 12 caps he has already collected playing for France. Da Costa knows his way around a World Cup, too, having played for his nation at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, which was played in 2022.

Laurent Frayssinous’ side take on Samoa, England and Lebanon in the group stages of the competition.

Amir Bourouh

The hooker will be leaving Hull FC to join former Black and Whites boss John Cartwright at Catalans Dragons next season, but his focus will be on France for the time being.

The Yorkshireman has never been involved internationally before but he does have French and Algerian heritage and he has chosen to represent the French side of his family this autumn at the World Cup. He could make his debut for France next Friday in their clash with Samoa in Sydney and he’d dearly love to be involved against England the week after in Perth, too.

Arthur Romano

Romano is another who is preparing to make the move from East Yorkshire to Perpignan in the off-season with the centre returning to Catalans Dragons under Cartwright after just one season with Hull.

He has played in seven games for France and that includes three appearances at the last World Cup in England. Romano missed much of the second half of the season due to injury but he’ll be keen to impress with France as he bids to hit the ground running at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Josh Harding

This was something of a surprise but Caerphilly-born back-rower Harding has been called up to represent Wales this autumn. The 17-year-old joined Hull at the start of the 2026 season after catching the eye with Aber Valley Wolves.

He captained Wales’ under-16s and he’ll be aiming to make his senior debut for Wales next weekend when Paul Berry’s side take on USA in Merthyr Tydfil.

Berry has named a 41-man squad which will split into a first-team and Wales A side. Wales A will also be in action against a Sir Billy Boston Select XIII.

Wales will then take part in the Celtic Cup alongside Scotland and Ireland.

Will Mathers

Hardin’s teammate Mathers will be joining him in the Wales squad, with the loose-forward, who was born in Castleford, being called up by Berry, too.

They’ll hope to impress in the build-up to next weekend’s action and the hope will be that they can do enough to pick up some senior experience with the Wales first-team.
