The Robins have already made three signings ahead of the 2027 season

Paul Lakin has refused to rule out the possibility of making more Hull KR additions down the line, but nothing is in the offing right now.

The Robins are preparing to welcome new head coach Nathan Cayless to the club in the next few weeks and the former New Zealand international will be joined by three new signings at Craven Park.

Those signings are his with the head coach earmarking them as targets due to his extensive knowledge of the New South Wales and Queensland Cups and they’ll be arriving to supplement a squad that is largely settled and in place.

Moala Graham-Taufa and Salesi Ataata will be joining from South Sydney Rabbitohs’ second string, while Eddie Hampson has been signed from Townsville Blackhawks too, adding to KR’s back-row ranks.

Indeed, the trio will certainly freshen things up and as Cayless bids to make his mark at KR, they go a long way towards that.

There could be more signings made in the months ahead as well, but only once Cayless has been given sufficient time to run the rule over the squad he will be inheriting.

“There’s nothing immediate,” Lakin told Hull Live when asked about the potential for more signings. “I wouldn’t say three and done because I think it’s right to let Nathan assess the squad he’s got.

“We can give him feedback and have given him feedback. He’s watched all the matches and he’s been able to see some training sessions, too, but there’s nothing better than working with players and because it’s a ninth of November start, he has plenty of time to work with the players to get a greater feel for it.

“I’ve said many times before that recruitment never stops and the honest answer is we’ll work it out as we along when he’s forming his opinions of his players.

“We might make a couple of changes during the season, it all depends.

“It depends on availability, too. Recruitment is going to get tougher and tougher with more teams, like if London do come into Super League and I know it’s not decided yet then that’s 15 teams as opposed to 12 two years ago.

“And then the NRL are expanding all the time and the player pool is getting tighter.

“Yeah, he needs to assess what he’s got first but there isn’t a depth of players out there and retention is becoming key for a lot of clubs.”
