A 75-year-old man is among three people who have been arrested after a cat’s tail was ‘posted through a letterbox’ in Hull last month. It comes after eight-year-old rescue Tabby cat Max went missing on Monday, September 14.
His owners are said to have found their pet’s tail had been posted through the mail slot in their block of flats in Appleton Road a few days later. The couple later discovered their cat’s remains were in woodland near their home. A vigil was arranged the following weekend with more than 100 mourners attending, with one driving from Birmingham to pay their respects to Max.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Lucy Kevan said: “An investigation was immediately launched and multiple lines of enquiry including reviewing CCTV, forensic analysis and carrying out house to house enquiries were conducted to identify those involved.
“I understand a report of this nature caused concern amongst the community however I would like to provide reassurance that we believe this to be an isolated incident between people known to each other.
