Some serious and disturbing cases have dominated a busy few weeks in the courts, including a tragic death crash in which a young man distracted by music ploughed his car into the back of another vehicle. A violent bully left a woman suffering a “nightmare” that was intended to “grind her down”.
A 75-year-old cyclist became the victim of a vicious attack after he exchanged words with a complete stranger near a gate. An aggressive man who once threatened to murder a terrified woman, cut her head off and “become the next Raoul Moat” was jailed.
A troublemaker who took offence at being told to “Put a sock in it” and repeatedly punched and kicked another man was also locked up, as were two robbers who targeted a helpless man and two convicted sex offenders who threw away chances to avoid prison.
