Head coach Willie Peters has provided a full injury update ahead of Hull KR‘s penultimate game of the regular Super League season against Huddersfield Giants, with captain Elliot Minchella recently sent to see a specialist over a neck problem.
The loose forward has been struggling with the issue, Peters confirmed, with Minchella among those missing from Rovers’ 46-0 defeat to Wigan Warriors. The Round 25 contest also celebrated the life of Sir Billy Boston, with an emotional pre-match tribute at the Brick Community Stadium.
Hull KR are set to welcome back several key players for next week’s home fixture against Jim Lenihan’s Huddersfield side at Sewell Group Craven Park.
However, influential back-rower James Batchelor is facing a race against time to feature again before the end of the regular season after suffering a hamstring injury.
Sam Luckley also passed a head injury assessment after picking up a knock during the second half against Wigan on Thursday night, with a youthful Rovers outfit named – including Super League debuts for Frankie Dearlove and Alfie Woods, and a club debut for Dec Murphy.
“Tom Davies and Peta Hiku will be back, and Jez Litten will play. They’re the guys that more than likely could have played tonight (Thursday) but were carrying stuff,” Peters confirmed.
“Dean Hadley should be okay, he still has to pass some tests.
“Joe Burgess will be okay.
“Elliot (Minchella) has had a neck issue and he’s seen the specialist, but we’re hopeful he’ll be okay.
“James Batchelor won’t play. Gilly (Oliver Gildart) pulled out of this game yesterday (during Captain’s Run), so we need to see how his foot is.”
