Sergej Jakirovic has provided fresh injury updates on three Hull City players before the Premier League clash against Manchester United

Hull City could be without eight injured players for the club’s first Premier League game in nearly a decade. Manchester United are the visitors to the MKM Stadium on Saturday lunchtime and are dealing with their own injury issues but Sergej Jakirovic has nearly twice as many concerns.
They have alleviated in recent weeks with John Egan, Lewie Coyle, Cody Drameh and Mo Belloumi all having dealt with but recovered from recent issues.
Speaking on the situation to Hull Live, Jakirovic said: “Yes, it’s very incredible. Some of these injuries are old problems from last season, and some of them are new, of course.
“It’s football, injuries, it’s normal things for us. It’s just that the timing of these injuries is not good. Some injuries that we have now are old problems from last season, so they’re just repeating. What can we do?”
New signings Jack Butland, Oscar Zambrano, Joe Gelhardt and Hidemasa Morita have missed some of pre-season due to injury with Jakirovic providing updates on the latter duo.
He told BBC Humberside: “Morita has joined us in group training which is good so our plan is either to put him on the bench [vs Man Utd] or get some minutes against Stoke [City in the Carabao Cup] on Tuesday.
On Gelhardt, he added: “My prediction was three weeks but I spoke to him and he said, ‘two weeks’ so I expect him to join us next week.”
Charlie Hughes has been ruled out of this weekend’s fixture as he continues to face problems after undergoing double hernia surgery with Jakirovic offering the latest.
The Croatian said: “He went to a specialist [on Wednesday] in Dublin and now we are waiting to see what new information comes back.” Elliot Matazo, Darko Gyabi and Matty Jacob are the other Hull City players currently sidelined with injuries.
As for their opponents, Michael Carrick has provided encouraging injury updates on Benjamin Sesko, Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt ahead of the Premier League fixture against Hull City.

He said: “We are managing Mason a little bit, but he’s very close, so it’s touch-and-go for the weekend really, if not going into next week. There’s no drama. It’s maybe, it’s been a week or so, 10 days or whatever it’s been. So it’s nothing major.”
“Matthijs has obviously been out for a long period of time, but he’s training, and it’s great to have him back. Well, he won’t be involved, but he’s in good shape and moving in a good direction. So that’s really a good bonus for us really at this stage.”
On Sesko, he added: “Ben is back training. So that’s again another positive. Looking forward to having him back around the group and getting him some minutes as well.”
Summer acquisition Karl Darlow has been managing an injury but has returned to training and may feature on the bench, while Manuel Ugarte and Tom Heaton are expected to be absent.
