Peters will give youth a chance against Toulouse

Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has confirmed that youngsters Jack Charles and Louix Gorman will be given minutes this evening when the Robins take on Toulouse Olympique.
Peters will expect to see an improved performance from his side tonight after falling short against Warrington Wolves on Tuesday, but the head coach will be without his first choice half-back pairing.
Mikey Lewis has been dropped before the start of his two-match suspension, as Willie Peters sends a stern message that his lack of discipline will not be tolerated, while Tyrone May will miss the game through injury.
That has opened the door for Charles to step into the fold this evening and the youngster can be expected to start in the halves for what will be his second outing in a KR shirt and his first for the east Hull club in Super League.
Charles is no stranger to the first-team environment having played regularly at Hull FC before the move and he has featured on a couple of occasions for Goole Vikings on loan this year, too. He made his Rovers debut in the Challenge Cup win over Lock Lane in February and while the 20-year-old has had to be patient, he gets another chance tonight against the French outfit.
Like Charles, Gorman has made just one previous KR appearance. However that came back in 2023 with the 21-year-old getting the nod in a much changes KR side against Wigan Warriors.
Since then he has picked up game time at Featherstone Rovers, London Broncos and Salford, but he’ll get the chance to make his second KR appearance tonight, Peters has confirmed.
“We’re going to be playing a couple of younger players this week in Jack Charles and Louix Gorman,” Peters said. “We’re going to reward two guys that have trained really hard and worked their way through the grades, Louix with us and Jack coming over this year.
“I spoke when I first got here around earning your jersey and these two have earned it. They’re first on the field, they’re last on the field, what they put into their game tells me they’re going to be long-term players at this club and they’re going to get rewarded by being in the 17. We have to see what game time looks like but they’ll certainly feature.”
Asked where Gorman could play, Peters added: “I’m not 100 per cent sure yet. He’s a centre but he can play on the wing and at full-back. We’ll have a look at how the game is unfolding but at the moment his best position is centre. Although he can play a few different positions.”
