The Robins won 28-10 but it was far from pretty

Hull KR boss Willie Peters won’t spend too long looking back at Thursday night’s tough showing against Catalans Dragons.
The Robins got the win, beating John Cartwright’s side 28-10 at Craven Park but it was far from pretty with Rovers labouring for huge periods of the contest.
They took a commanding lead into the opening 20 minutes of the game as Jack Broadbent scored twice, with a Jez Litten try sandwiched in between, and they got over again through Joe Burgess just before the break.
KR made life difficult for themselves in the second half though, inviting pressure with errors and mistakes. And, while they did get over the line through Tyrone May, that wasn’t enough to save a difficult second half showing.
However, with three more games to play over the next fortnight, including a rearranged game on Tuesday night with Warrington Wolves, Peters doesn’t have the time to sweat that second half showing too much.
“A win and we move on,” Peters said when asked for his verdict after the game.
“I thought the first 20 minutes was outstanding and we just went away. It was a kick chase for their try, it was a staggered line and Staines is a very good player and got the well deserved try. On the back of that we looked looser.
“We got to half-time and we had a good chat about we did well and we needed to work on but the second half was average. We made it difficult for ourselves with errors, but what I was proud about was the way we defended our line. Again, it was like 30-odd tackles inside our 20.
“The boys are resilient that’s for sure but we made things a little bit harder than they needed to be I think. If we just stuck to getting our sets, in the first half we were 90 per cent, so if we did that in the second half, we would have been OK at the back end of the game but we made it difficult for ourselves.
“I don’t want to read too much into it. At the moment it’s about winning games and ticking them off. We’ve got a block now which is a five-day turnaround into four-day turnaround, into a five-day turnaround.
“I’ll watch the game and give players feedback but I won’t go into it too much around why. I want players to recover. We came to get two points and that’s what we’ve got.”
