Sue and Gildart were withdrawn at Castleford Tigers due to injury
Oliver Gildart has picked up an ankle issue
Hull KR will be without Sauaso Sue next week, head coach Willie Peters has confirmed.
Sue started KR’s 44-0 win over Castleford but failed to return to the action for a second spell, ensuring he played around 20 minutes or so at Wheldon Road.
The prop has been carrying a foot injury and his game time has been managed of late by the head coach.
However, he won’t be involved at all when KR take on Catalans Dragons on Thursday night at Craven Park.
That game will be the start of a run of three games in nine days for KR, with the club set to play their game in hand against Warrington Wolves next Tuesday, and as a result Peters will be looking to freshen things up wherever he can.
“He’s got a foot injury at the moment,” Peters said on Sue. “We’ll probably have to spell him next week.
“We’re going through a challenging period in the next two or three weeks. He hasn’t been right, we gave him the week off but it’s still not where it needs to be. He’s had one stint when he’s played the last few weeks but we’ll have to get it right.”
Explaining the decision to bring Jez Litten off late in the game, Peters added: “It was just to rest him. He’s played 80 minutes the last few weeks and what we’re about to go through, I need to spell guys where we can.
“There will be a bit of rotation next week, Jesse could have played probably but it’s best he doesn’t. Tevita [Pangai Jr] is back in contention next week as well. There’ll be a little bit of rotation around the middles in the next couple of weeks.”
Sue wasn’t the only injury issue KR were forced to contend with at Wheldon Road though, with Oliver Gildart being withdrawn at the interval due to an injury.
“He’s got an ankle but I’m not sure how bad that is,” Peters said. “I don’t think it’s too bad but I’m not sure yet.”
