Wakefield have made a six figure bid for Hull FC centre Davy Litten

Daryl Powell gave nothing away when asked about Wakefield Trinity’s interest in Hull FC centre Davy Litten on Thursday.
The Wakefield boss has been open about the club’s interest in other players in the past and he notably spoke at length about Wakefield’s bid for Harry Robertson recently, which prompted a strongly-worded statement from St Helens. The Saints also reported Wakefield to the RFL’s Compliance department.
Powell gave nothing away this week though following Love Rugby League’s initial report of a bid being accepted for Litten by the Black and Whites.
The bid is worth six figures with Hull understood to have accepted after exploring the possibility of a potential swap deal.
Powell kept his cards close to his chest though by refusing to provide a comment on the club’s pursuit of Litten.
“I’ve no comment to make on that,” Powell said. “I’m just focusing on the game and what’s important, what’s right in front of us.”
Pushed on whether Litten was a player Wakefield were keen on, he repeated: “As I say, I’ve got no comment on it. Just focus on the game and what we’ve got smack bang ahead of us.”
The head coach did have more to say on the club’s injury situation after welcoming Lachlan Walmsley and Mike McMeeken back into the fold ahead of Friday’s clash with Leeds Rhinos.
“We’ve just trained so if Mike comes out of that OK then he should be available,” he said. “Lachlan is alright, he’s had a week off so I just have a call to make on the wing. We’re OK we came out of that last game alright-ish, we don’t have anything major so there’s selection calls for me and the coaches to make.”
On McMeeken specifically, he added: “There’s nothing major but we decided we didn’t want to put him in there. He’s come through alright this week so we’ll see how he comes through today but he should be alright.
“He’s a high quality player and our captain. Putting those players back in is massive but whoever we put in at the moment is doing a great job for us. Our depth has grown across the year which is always pleasing to see, a couple of young players have come in and done well.
“Obviously you want your better players fit. He doesn’t miss too much, Mike, so if he’s OK which I think he will be then it would be great to have him back.”
