Hull KR are set to be boosted by the return of Sauaso Sue from a short-term injury ahead of their trip to Castleford Tigers.
The prop forward powerhouse missed the recent 40-16 victory over Bradford Bulls in Super League Round 21 due to injury, with Dean Hadley and Tom Amone starting in the front row, while Sam Luckley and Jordan Dezaria were named on the interchange bench.
Sue, 34, has made 22 appearances in all competitions so far this season but has struggled with a number of minor injuries in recent weeks.
His return would provide Hull KR with a major boost ahead of their must-win clash against Castleford at the OneBore Stadium as the play-off race continues to intensify.
“We’re in a similar position to last week, which is positive,” head coach Willie Peters confirmed of his squad.
“Hopefully Jesse Sue will be back this week. He’s on track, and he trained today.”
Meanwhile, Tevita Pangai Junior is set to serve the final match of his six-game suspension, making him available to face his former club Catalans Dragons on Thursday, August 13.
Peters insists opportunities will continue to arise for members of his squad during a busy upcoming schedule, which includes a rearranged midweek fixture against Warrington Wolves from Round Two.
“We’ve got a big block coming up, so there’ll certainly be a little bit of rotation around the squad and what that looks like,” Peters said.
“We want to take it game-by-game because things can change each week, with suspensions, players getting injured and that type of thing.
“There’s a bit of a plan there, with four games in a short period, and we feel players need a rest. But at this time of year, we need to improve, build cohesion and build consistency with how we want to play, making sure we finish the back end of the year as strongly as we can.
“Players always have an opportunity, whether it’s at training, in the reserves, or out on loan. It’s about finding that balance between giving players game time while also working towards what you feel your strongest team is.”
