Dean Hadley continues to impress head coach Willie Peters, with one under-the-radar moment during Hull KR’s 40-16 win over Bradford Bulls highlighting exactly why he is so highly valued.
Hadley underwent scans after a hamstring scare but was given the all-clear to start at prop for the Robins’ Round 21 clash with Bradford at Sewell Group Craven Park.
The reigning champions secured two valuable competition points on home soil as the play-off race continues to intensify. Hull KR remain sit in the table and also have a game in hand against Warrington Wolves later this month.
Hadley has played a pivotal role in Hull KR’s recent success, making 22 appearances across all competitions this season, and continues to earn praise from his head coach.
Peters said: “He went and got a scan, and the scan showed there was no strain or tear, which was the main thing.
“He was okay to play, and I took him off towards the end. He does it every week – they turned the ball under, Jez [Litten] sort of overchased, and guess who was there for the space? It was Dean Hadley again.
“We missed him when he wasn’t playing in those big games earlier in the year. We’re certainly a tighter defensive team when Dean is around. He’s very important to what we do.”
Hull KR’s attention turns to Castleford Tigers in Round 22, set to travel to the OneBore Stadium on Friday in another must-win contest.
“We wanted the two points [against Bradford], and now the focus is on Castleford,” added Peters.
“It’s always a difficult place to go. We need to improve and we’ll do that.”
