Doodling sessions, mindfulness, breathwork and creative workshops have also been planned by Hull and East Yorkshire Mind

Goat yoga, wellbeing walks and doodling sessions are on an activity-packed agenda in Hull for a mental health charity’s first ever Wellbeing Week. Hull and East Yorkshire Mind is inviting people from around the region to take a step back from the demands of everyday life to make time for their mental wellbeing through the week long event, taking place this August.

And the joy of goat yoga – where playful friendly goats roam around yoga participants, resting on mats or people’s backs – is set to be a star draw when it takes place at the Humber Street Pop Up Space. Gentle yoga and cuddles from friendly goats, all while supporting Hull & East Yorkshire Mind, takes place on August 20.

It is one of a host of events being held in the Pop-Up Space in Hull’s Fruit Market and supported by Wykeland Group, bringing together a range of activities designed to help people relax, reconnect and discover simple, practical ways to look after their mental health.

Other activities include mindfulness, breathwork and creative workshops to worry doll making, doodling sessions and yoga, with the programme carefully designed to show that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to wellbeing.

The week will culminate in the Mindful Makers Market, which is set to be a celebration of creativity, community and independent local businesses. Visitors will have the opportunity to browse unique handmade products, discover talented local makers, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and support small businesses.

The event reflects Hull and East Yorkshire Mind’s belief that mental health is something we all have, and that looking after it should be part of everyday life – not just something we only think about when we’re struggling. The charity hopes to inspire people to take small, positive steps towards better mental wellbeing, whatever that looks like for them.

Lucy Joy, Events Manager at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, said: “We’re so excited to be launching our very first Wellbeing Week. We wanted to create something that was welcoming, inclusive and, most importantly, enjoyable.

“Looking after your mental health doesn’t have to feel clinical or overwhelming. Sometimes it’s about taking an hour out of your day, trying something new, connecting with other people or simply giving yourself permission to slow down.

“Whether you’ve never engaged with a mental health charity before, or you’ve supported Hull & East Yorkshire Mind for years, we’d love people to come along, get involved and see just how many different ways there are to support your wellbeing. We hope people leave feeling happier, more connected and inspired to make wellbeing a bigger part of their everyday lives.”

A spokesperson for Wykeland Group, said: “At Wykeland, we’re passionate about creating places and communities where people can thrive, so we’re incredibly proud to be supporting Hull & East Yorkshire Mind’s first Wellbeing Week here in the heart of the Fruit Market.

“Initiatives like this help make conversations around mental health and wellbeing more open, accessible and positive. By bringing people together through a range of engaging activities, Wellbeing Week encourages us all to take a moment to prioritise our mental health and connect with others.

“We’re delighted to be supporting an initiative that will have a lasting impact on our local community, and we hope as many people as possible take the opportunity to get involved.”
