Two women were left seriously injured after being hit by a van in Bridlington. The driver was arrested at the scene and is in police custody.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses following the incident involving a silver Peugeot Teepee Expert at around 9am on Wednesday (July 22) on Trinity Road. One of the pedestrians, an 83-year-old woman, suffered injuries that “are believed to be life threatening at this time”, police say.
The second pedestrian, a 78-year-old woman, was “also taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries that are not thought to be life threatening”.
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “A 35-year-old man, the driver of the van, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody at this time.
“Officers are continuing their investigation, conducting lines of enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time of the collision, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 105 of 22 July.”
