Hull KR boss Willie Peters believes Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin is right following his claim that the Robins are stuck in a ‘doom loop’
Rovers fell to their third defeat in four games last Saturday at Warrington Wolves with the club turning in a lacklustre performance on both sides of the ball.
It was the same story the previous week when Peters’ side lost at home to Wakefield Trinity and they even failed to get over the line on that occasion.
As such, Wilkin was damning in his comments after the contest at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, which Rovers lost 34-12, claiming that Rovers have become stuck in a cycle of negativity as they slip further and further away from being the side that won the treble last season.
Wilkin criticised the uncharacteristic lack of discipline and errors, while he also pointed to just how soft the club have been defensively, with one negative leading to another.
And, Peters agrees with the pundit in reference to the last two outings in particular.
“At the moment he’s right, if you’re going by the last couple of games,” the Rovers boss conceded.
“We can use any excuse, and there are a lot of reasons. We’re talking internally with the board around why we’re in this situation or why I believe we’re in this situation, but that doesn’t help the next ten weeks.
“You’ve got to push through it, you’ve only got two options… you either run towards it or say, ‘I’ve had enough’.
“This team, this club and this community aren’t about that, that’s been our DNA.
“We’ve spoken about who we are and what we’re going to be about.”
