Police are continuing to tell motorists to avoid a major road into Hull after a man took to a rooftop earlier. Officers were called to Anlaby Road, close to the junction with Trenton Avenue, shortly before noon and remain at the scene.

A witness said a man was on the rooftops above the businesses between Trenton Avenue and Norland Avenue and began “ripping the chimney and tiles off”. He is understood to no longer be on the rooftop but emergency services remain at the scene due to bricks and tiles being on the road.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance on Anlaby Road, near the junction Trenton Avenue after we were called to reports of a man on a roof at around 11.45am this morning (Friday, 17 July 2026).

“A road closure is in place on Anlaby Road at the junctions with The Greenway and Norland Avenue whilst emergency services operate. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area at this time.”
