Striker Emersonn is on the cusp of joining Ipswich Town after the Tractor Boys agreed a fee with Toulouse for the highly-rated Brazilian youngster.
Hull City had made the 21-year-old one of their primary transfer targets this summer, believing he was somebody capable of flourishing under Sergej Jakirovic’s tutelage.
City, though, are understood to have walked away from the deal after it became clear their valuation of the striker was some distance away from that of the French club.
The Tigers had seen a couple of bids rebuffed by Toulouse, who were keen to get a fee in excess of £20m, but it’s believed City would not go any higher than their valuation. National media reports suggested the East Yorkshire club had lodged a £22m bid, but those were wide of the mark.
Reports now suggest Ipswich are paying around £26.6m for the player who bagged six goals in Ligue 1 last season, following his £2.5m switch from Turkish outfit Goztepe in the summer of 2025.

The forward is set to undergo a medical in Suffolk, ahead of agreeing a long-term contract in what would represent a club-record transfer for the Tractor Boys, who joined City and Coventry City in winning promotion from the Championship.
He’ll also become the first Brazilian to represent Ipswich, should the move, as expected, go through. It would represent the first signing made under new boss Gary O’Neil, who replaced Kieran McKenna after he stepped down in May.
A graduate of the Athletico Paranaense academy, Emersonn joined Super Lig side Goztepe in January 2025, before moving to France last summer, and getting his big break in Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, experienced frontman Callum Wilson is on the cusp of signing for Brentford, according to reports. Wilson, who left West Ham following their relegation to the Championship, was a player the Tigers had held interest in.
