Jeremiah Mata’utia has returned to Leeds Rhinos after the completion of his one month loan deal at Hull FC.
The prop forward played nine times for the Black and Whites, first appearing at Castleford Tigers at the end of April. He originally joined the club on a week-to-week loan deal before seeing that move extended by a month.
A short club statement read: “Hull FC can confirm that Jeremiah Mata’utia has returned to Leeds Rhinos following the end of his loan spell with the club. We’d like to thank Jerry for his efforts in Black & White, and wish him the best of luck for the remainder of the season.”
Meanwhile, Ethan O’Neill could return to Hull on loan after completion of his rehab from a recent hamstring injury.
Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur entertained the possibility last week, should the deal fit both parties’ interests, with the Aussie the only player the club will loan out due to his ‘different’ circumstances .
“If they (Hull) have got a desire to do that, yeah – we’re still happy to let him get some time in Super League,” Arthur said when asked about the possibility of a loan extension for O’Neill.
“We’re getting a lot of requests for players to be getting loaned out but we need to lock down.
“We’ve done our bit and guys have got enough game time, but Ethan’s situation is a little bit different. He’s been down there for a while and done some training with them. It’s not his second home but he’s quite comfortable there so his situation is different to the rest of them, but we won’t be loaning any more players out.”
An update will come on the player’s fitness later this week. O’Neill has played five times for Hull, scoring two tries.
