Hull KR could be set to welcome back Arthur Mourgue

Arthur Mourgue is closing in on a Hull KR return but there’s still uncertainty around Dean Hadley’s condition.

Mourgue injured his pec for the second time this season in the win over Leigh Leopards in May and has been on the sidelines for the seven weeks since.

However, the Frenchman is approaching full fitness once more and Willie Peters has revealed he will be pushing to make a return to the Rovers side before too long.

Peters was a little more cagey when asked for an update on Hadley, though. The forward failed a second HIA in the space of a month last week at Leeds Rhinos and saw a specialist on Friday afternoon.

However, the head coach was unable to give a clear update on Hadley.

“It’s still a process so I can’t share anything at the moment,” Peters said on Hadley. “It’s still with the medical team.

“Sam [Luckley] should be back, Arthur is going to start getting close so we’ll just have to see so we’ll have some possible news during the week about where he’s at, that’s about it I think.”

Peters was also asked about Bill Leyland with the youngster being withdrawn less than seven minutes after stepping off the bench in the second half.

“We had to manage our interchange different this week,” Peters said on Leyland. “Bill possibly had a chance of not getting on the field at all, we didn’t know.

“I felt there was an opportunity to put him on the field but I felt momentum shifted when Jez went off so I want to get Jez back on to get some momentum back.

“That was unfortunate for Bill. I’d love Jez to be able to play 80 but whether he’s coming on as an interchange or whether he starts, he still needs a spurt here and there.

“It was more how do we get Jez back on, can Jez go to 13 but then Mini goes to prop and momentum in the game then was probably shifting from us. I just needed to find a way to get it back and unfortunately for Bill it was a short stint.”
