A teen drug dealer has been sentenced:
- A teenage drug dealer was found with a potentially lucrative haul of cocaine after police chased a car suspected of being linked to the theft of a motorcycle in Hull.
- The car eventually came to a stop and the passenger, Harris Dukes, tried to run off but he was soon caught and arrested. He was searched and a package of cocaine, valued at about £1,000, was found.
- Dukes, 19, of York Road, north Hull, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply on May 26. He appeared in custody before Hull Crown Court for sentence.
- The court was told that police were in the Dunswell area, near Hull, when they spotted a vehicle that was suspected of being linked to an earlier report of the attempted theft of a motorcycle. The police signalled for the vehicle to stop.
- There was a chase but the car driver eventually came to a stop in the Highcourt area of Orchard Park estate, north Hull. The occupants tried to escape from the car in a bid to avoid arrest.
- The passenger, Dukes, was soon detained and he was searched by police. The package of cocaine was discovered on him.
- Dukes was sent to a young offenders’ institution for two years and two months. He must pay a £228 victims’ surcharge. The drugs and a mobile phone will be forfeited.
- He appeared before the court via a video link from Hull Prison. The 21-year-old driver of the car remains on bail pending further investigation, the police confirmed.
