Four youngsters will pick up much needed minutes in the Championship this weekend
Jack Charles is among Hull KR’s crop of youngsters looking to push for places in 2026.
Hull KR have sent four youngsters out to the Championship on short-term loans this week.
Jack Charles, Harvey Horne, Cobie Wainhouse and Flynn Holden have all made the switch to Goole Vikings on short-term deals and they’ll be a part of Scott Taylor’s side to take on Keighley Cougars on Saturday afternoon.
The quartet are considered to be on the fringes of the first-team picture at present and in an attempt to pick up some much needed game time, the club has allowed them to make the switch across East Yorkshire.
Charles has made just one appearance for the Robins since joining the club from Hull FC in the off-season. The half-back scored twice in the 104-0 win over Lock Lane back in February, but he hasn’t featured for Willie Peters’ side since.
After making 23 appearances for Hull in just two seasons before making the switch, Charles might have hoped for more opportunities at Craven Park this year in order to continue his progression.
They haven’t come though and he’ll be looking to use this weekend’s game at the Victoria Pleasure Ground to make his mark.
Wainhouse is still waiting to make his KR debut since he made the move over from Hull last season, too.
Flynn Holden only joined KR this month, with the versatile back making the move from Warrington Wolves. Holden is highly rated at Craven Park but he knows Goole well too, having made two appearances for the Vikings earlier on in the season on loan from the Wire.
Horne has also spent time on loan at Goole this season, but after scoring a hat-trick in that Challenge Cup win over Lock Lane, the 20-year-old might well have hoped to have been closer to Willie Peters’ squad so far this season.
