Historic visitor attractions, grassroots sports clubs and scout groups are among the initiatives to receive grant funding in this year’s allocation

More than 50 community organisations across East Yorkshire have become recipients of a fund linked to a major North Sea wind farm. A host of grassroots sports clubs, health groups and historical locations have secured support from the Dogger Bank Wind Farm Fund.
They are among 124 organisations across wider Yorkshire and the North East to receive backing from the fund, which provides grants of up to £1,000, with £80,000 allocated this year.
The Operator Fund’s latest round is part of a wider ambitions to grant £25m to groups over the 35-year lifespan of the wind farm, which lies between 130km and 200km off the East Yorkshire coast. Dogger Bank’s operators say the small grants will help local organisation enhance quality of life, encourage participation and bring people together through shared activities.
Dogger Bank Wind Farm is a joint venture partnership co-owned by energy companies SSE Renewables (40%), Equinor (40%) and Vårgrønn (20%). Last month, it also opened applications to its 2026 scholarships programme which supports undergraduates pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees with £5,000 of funding.
