Hull KR were handed more heartbreak a week after Wembley with a dramatic 26-24 defeat at Wakefield Trinity.
Jack Broadbent – 5: Struggled to make a big impact in the game, though was comfortable at the back.
Tom Davies – 5: A strong carrier of the ball but didn’t see much of it in good field position.
Peta Hiku – 4: Came inches away from scoring in a decision that had to be made by the video referee, but it was his penalty that gave Wakefield field position to go on and win the game through Mason Lino.
Oliver Gildart – 5: The classy centre probably would have liked his hands on the ball more.
Joe Burgess – 5: The winger sin-binned for his retaliation on Lino in the first half, but had some important catches at the back under pressure.
Mikey Lewis – 5: The livewire hooker scored Hull KR ’s first try and came close to a second late on, but Wakefield defended strongly.
Tyrone May – 5: A kick assist for Whitbread, and looked like his late try could have been the decisive score. A couple of moments on both sides of the ball he’d like back.
Sauaso Sue – 4: An opening 19 minute stint in a battle, followed by a ridiculous red card in the second half for a swinging arm on Tray Lolesio just minutes after Matty Storton was sent off for Wakefield.
Jez Litten – 5: Managed to shake off an early knock with a 36 minute opening stint before a break, with a nice offload for May in his try.
Tom Amone – 5: An opening 32 minute stint but it was a physical battle in the middle.
Karl Lawton – 5: Started in the back-row before moving to hooker, with plenty of defence.
James Batchelor – 5: Another high tackle count for the back-rower, who had to get up after high contact from Storton – the Wakefield forward sent off for the incident.
Elliot Minchella – 5: Marked his 150th appearance for Hull KR. Had to cool down his players a number of times with tempers running high.
Sam Luckley – 6: Introduced in the second half and made a good impact, including a try in response to Storton’s.
Jai Whitbread – 5: A mixed afternoon for the new dad, who scored a try but had a couple of poor moments in defence.
Rhyse Martin – 4: Lawton picked to start at back-row, with Martin brought into a chaotic match from the bench.
Jordan Dezaria – 4: A tough battle in the middle, but didn’t make a huge impact from the bench.
