A cocaine dealer with a 20-year addiction fell victim to the “bright lights of the drug dealing underworld” – and got completely embroiled in the seedy trade – after things went “quite catastrophically wrong” for him. His drug addiction cost him his marriage and it had “done nothing but destroy everything that he had built up in his life” before that.
He was found with a haul of cocaine and a total of £2,145 cash, Hull Crown Court heard. Pashko Geci, 46, of Newland Avenue, Hull, but recently in custody on remand, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply on December 18, being concerned in supplying cocaine between July and December last year, offering to supply cannabis on July 4 last year and possessing cash as criminal property on December 18.
Harry Crowson, prosecuting, said that police executed a search warrant at Geci’s home on December 18 and he was arrested. Scales, a bag of cash and drugs were found. He had £125 cash in his trouser pocket and a bag under a wardrobe had more than £2,000 cash in it.
Police found 22 bags of cocaine and one wrap of cannabis in a car parked outside. Messages on a phone indicated that Geci had been involved in street dealing of cocaine and offering to supply cannabis.
The total cash seized was £2,145. Geci, an Albanian national, had convictions for six previous offences, including assaulting an emergency worker.
Oliver Shipley, mitigating, said that Geci had never been in trouble before 2017. “He accepts that this is serious offending,” said Mr Shipley.
“He is under no illusions that he faces a likely further period in custody. It does appear that something has gone quite catastrophically wrong for him to be involved in offending such as that.
“There is a significant degree of remorse here. He says there is no one else to blame in this but himself.” Father-of-four Geci had been in this country for nearly 20 years.
He had suffered a 20-year-long cocaine addiction and this had “done nothing but destroy everything that he had built up in his life”. His marriage of 20 years broke up after he suffered alcohol and drug problems.
Geci had fallen victim to the “bright lights of the drug dealing underworld” and it “spiralled further and further and further” until he could not turn his back on drugs. He had been in custody since December 19.
Recorder Taryn Turner told Geci: “This was sustained commercial drug dealing activity. This is so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence can be justified. Dealing in Class A drugs causes real harm in the community.”
Geci was jailed for three years and seven months.
