FlamePro has been awarded a place on the UK’s biggest framework to supply life-saving kit to fire and rescue services across the country
An East Yorkshire-based firefighter PPE manufacturer has secured a place on the UK’s largest framework for supplying life-saving equipment to fire services. FlamePro has been named on the National Firefighter PPE Framework, overseen by the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).
The achievement represents a significant endorsement of FlamePro’s standing as a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of protective clothing designed to keep firefighters safe during emergency incidents. It also opens up a transformative commercial opportunity for FlamePro to supply PPE to all 49 of the UK’s fire and rescue services.
The Newport-based firm has been listed on six lots within the framework, encompassing both its structural firefighter and lightweight firefighting PPE ranges. FlamePro’s service offering and dedication to outstanding customer support proved instrumental in securing its place on the framework.
FlamePro managing director Tony Arnett said: “Being named on the National Firefighter PPE Framework gives fire services the confidence and clarity that, by choosing FlamePro, they are not only getting PPE they can rely on, but a first-class customer support experience which we believe is
unrivalled in our industry. Our selection for this framework will widen our customer base in the UK significantly, and enable us to help more fire and rescue services protect their crews when called out on life-saving operations.
“It reflects the growth of the business as an innovator and an industry leader in the manufacture of firefighter PPE, and is testament to the dedication of our entire team to delivering unrivalled quality, reliability and service to our customers.”
FlamePro’s structural firefighting kit is robust and lightweight, offering crews the highest level of protection while maintaining comfort and a secure fit. The firm’s lightweight firefighting PPE collection is designed for fire crews tackling complex, prolonged search and rescue operations, as well as attending road traffic collisions.
Via the framework, fire services can either buy PPE outright or opt for a fully-managed service throughout the contract period, with the latter option seeing FlamePro handle the cleaning and upkeep of garments.
FlamePro has partnered with workwear laundry specialist CLEAN to provide fire services with a straightforward, rapid and effective kit maintenance solution.
Central to FlamePro securing its place on the framework was the firm’s creation of the UK’s most extensive asset management app of its type, FlamePro Central, which will allow fire services and other clients to monitor each individual item of clothing and equipment.
Equipment will be supplied with an integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip, ensuring fire services have instant visibility of where items of clothing and kit are located. For instance, if equipment is sent for cleaning, the fire service will receive alerts when individual garments are being transported, at the cleaning facility, and on their way back.
Fire services will be able to utilise the app to verify kit returns at the station following a callout, minimising the risk of items going missing or being mislaid. It also means fire services maintain a complete log of how many times each piece of equipment has been cleaned, enabling them to know precisely when a garment has reached the end of its lifespan.
FlamePro Central will eliminate time-intensive procedures and deliver substantial efficiencies for fire services utilising FlamePro’s PPE.
The National Firefighter PPE Framework will operate for eight years, with FlamePro securing all six lots for which the company submitted bids.
The framework award also creates promising export opportunities for FlamePro. With the UK broadly regarded as the gold standard in technical firefighter equipment, being included on the framework conveys a clear message to international customers that FlamePro is a trusted and respected company in the PPE sector.
