Hull Trains organised a special day out for inspirational people recognised at this year’s Bee Lady Day ball. The unique trip was part of the celebrations around the annual Bee Lady Day, which honours a beloved Hull fundraiser.
Jean Bishop, who became widely known as the “Bee Lady”, raised more than £125,000 for Age UK before she passed away at the age of 99. Bee Lady Day was set up in her honour.
Hull Trains proudly partnered with Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire to give 12 dedicated volunteers a memorable day out in Doncaster. The winners travelled in style, enjoying first-class service on the operator’s “Jean Bishop Train”, as well as some extra treats from the onboard team.
Once they arrived in Doncaster, the group were surprised with a variety of craft activities at The Twisted Knot, a unique DIY workshop in the centre of the city. They then enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at Cupcakes 2 Love, the activities being supported by FoxGlove Care, a residential care provider.

It’s incredibly important that we celebrate her legacy every year and what better way to do that than to thank a group of people who are continuing the important work she started.
