Hodgson will be a Hull FC player in 2027.

Andy Last believes Bailey Hodgson would be a ‘great signing’ for Hull FC but stopped short of confirming whether the deal was done or not.

The Black and Whites are understood to have signed Hodgson for the 2027 season, with the Leigh Leopards full-back, a try scorer in Friday’s 42-6 win over Hull, the first signing of the Steve McNamara era ahead of next year.

A Hull-born player, Hodgson, nephew of Josh Hodgson and brother of former Hull academy player Josh Hodgson, comes from good stock, with the 23-year-old now set to line up in the Black and White next season.

“He’s certainly a good player,” Last, speaking to Hull Live, said. “He is from a good rugby league family, though. His brother Jeylan is killing it at Goole by all accounts. Tag (Scott Taylor) is always telling me how wonderful Jeylan is doing and playing exceptionally well.

“I never got the opportunity to coach Jeylan, it was the time when I was away from the club, but Bailey, he debuted for Castleford against Hull FC at the MKM Stadium back in 2020. It was Covid time.

“So we know of Bailey and he was a good player for the West Hull team. And then obviously, the family in Josh Hodgson, he’s a good friend of mine is Josh, and a great player, playing for Canberra, Parramatta, Hull Kingston Rovers, and ourselves, and represent his country, so yeah they are a good family. If Bailey has signed for us it’s a great signing.”
