The Black and Whites are believed to have signed Hodgson for next year
Hull FC CEO Richie Myler was coy when asked about Leigh Leopards Bailey Hodgson ahead of tonight’s clash between the two teams in Super League.
Hull Live understands that Hodgson has penned a deal with the Black and Whites, his home town team, for 2027 as he bids to progress his career and earn a regular spot.
It’s a move that looks set to result in a shake up in the Hull spine, with Will Pryce potentially destined to play in the halves under Steve McNamara from next season, once he has recovered from the knee injury he suffered in round two at Wigan Warriors.
Hodgson has had his own knee issue this year, but he finds himself behind David Armstrong in Adrian Lam’s pecking order at present, despite catching the eye when he has had the opportunity to.
He looks set to add plenty to Hull’s side next year then, but Myler was keeping his cards close to his chest when the move was put to him at Leigh Sports Village.
“I admire Bailey Hodgson, I think he’s a great player,” he said on Sky Sports. “But no, there’s nothing official for me to confirm or deny. He’s a great player, he’s someone we admire but nothing to tell you.”
Asked about further recruitment and the need for it, he added: “We’ve got a new head coach coming in who is very clear on the direction he wants to go.
“He’s meticulous and plans everything. We’re underperforming and we have a lot of senior players not playing through injury or form.
“We know it’s not been good enough but we have a clear plan, we’re going to make it right and we look forward to who’s going to add to this group and who are the right characters to add to this group.”
