The Post Office is currently located in TG Jones at Hull’s Prospect Centre
Post Office is advertising for a new host store in Hull as its site inside Hull’s Prospect Centre is set to close. The Post Office is inside TG Jones which is set to close on July 11, a spokesperson has confirmed.
After being a stalwart of UK High Streets for over 200 years, WH Smith PLC last year sold its High Street stores to Modella Capital in a deal worth £76 million. Following the acquisition, the High Street WH Smith stores across the country were re-branded to ‘TG Jones’.
The WH Smith turned TG Jones store in Hull’s Prospect Centre has been in place for over half a century, being one of the original stores in the shopping centre. However, it is now one of many across the country set to close.

Inside the store is one of Hull’s most prominent Post Offices. A Post Office spokesperson said: “We fully recognise the challenging trading conditions that TG Jones and many other High Street retailers are facing at the moment. Regrettably, following the launch of its Restructuring Plan, TG Jones has confirmed that its Hull store located in the Prospect Centre will close as will the Post Office within that store on 11 July.
“We know how important our products and services are to the local community. We have advertised the vacancy and would welcome interest from retailers looking to host a Post Office branch within their store. More details are available at www.runapostoffice.co.uk.”
TG Jones has also been approached for comment.
