A packed day of family activities will include animal encounters, sheepdog demonstrations and a farmers’ market

Bishop Burton College is gearing up to open its campus to the public once more for the highly-anticipated return of its Spring Live event. After last year’s special edition, which marked the college’s 70th anniversary and drew significant crowds for a day packed with family activities, Spring Live 2026 is set to be even more spectacular.

Taking place from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, May 31, the event will showcase the college’s specialist land-based curriculum, with students and staff collaborating to provide an extensive array of hands-on activities, demonstrations and interactive displays. Attendees can look forward to a jam-packed schedule featuring everything from animal encounters and agricultural exhibits to creative workshops and live performances.

Spring Live will also highlight the range of courses available at Bishop Burton College, near Beverley, along with its connections with industry and the local community. Guests will get the chance to tour the college’s facilities, meet students and lecturers and gain insight into the practical, career-oriented education on offer.

Highlights are set to include sheepdog demonstrations, animal feeding sessions, horse trials, tractor and machinery exhibits, assault courses, face painting and craft activities. There will also be trade and craft stalls, alongside chances to taste locally-produced food and drink at a farmers’ market.

The event will offer a platform for local businesses and organisations connecting with the local community, strengthening the college’s position as a centre for rural enterprise and innovation. Danny Metters, Principal and CEO of Bishop Burton College, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be bringing Spring Live back in 2026 and everyone across the college is really looking forward to welcoming visitors onto campus once again.

“Spring Live is a fantastic opportunity to showcase everything that makes Bishop Burton special – from our outstanding facilities and diverse curriculum to the passion and expertise of our staff and students. It’s a brilliant day for families and the wider community.

“After the success of last year’s event, we’re excited to build on that momentum and make 2026 even more memorable. We’re proud of our strong community connections and events like this really bring those relationships to life.”

Beyond being a family day out, Spring Live serves a role in inspiring the next generation of talent. By offering visitors a hands-on experience of subjects including agriculture, animal management, equine studies, engineering and more, the event highlights the wealth of career pathways available within land-based industries.

Businesses can also take advantage of sponsorship opportunities, gaining exposure while supporting a major regional event.

Founded in 1954, Bishop Burton College has grown to become one of the UK’s foremost land-based institutions, providing courses ranging from entry level through to postgraduate study.
